Friend survives severe kick in the head by DebbiI too have a "helmet" story, albeit second-hand. A friend of mine was riding in a paddock with loose horses (yes, I know, bad plan) and something went wrong. She got kicked in the head on the way off her previously quiet TB.
The ambulance men picked her up and she spent 2 weeks on life support and 6 months in the hospital's brain injury unit. She is okay now. The scary thing is that later the day it all happened, her husband was walking in the paddock and found the helmet she'd been wearing, the two halves held together by shreds of lining and the chin-strap. Imagine if she hadn't had it on.
