Regular afternoon by Elizabeth

I am thirteen and was twelve when it happened. I show Appaloosas and i had the most gentle horse ever, he wouldn't hurt a fly. He would just stand there through just about all you can think of. I had been showing him for about two years ( at this point i am still in walk trot)I was doing great in the western stuff and wanted to do english. We started doing well in english so I started contesting.

I was at home and it was a nice day and my dad was in the barn so i decided to ride in the field. I was out there and we were trotting around and i forgot my helmet, so i went back to the barn to get it soon I was back on the horse. We were back trotting through the field when all of a sudden this little brown animal popped up through the grass right in front of us ( it happened so fast I couldn't tell what the animal was). My horse freaked out and took a sharp turn to the left and I wasn't ready for it so I came tumbling off the horse head first right onto a rock! My horse took off into the barn and my dad came running out. By that time I was back on my feet and walking towards the barn. I took off my helmet and there was a huge scratch on it and a giant dent!

If it wasn't for me going back to get my helmet that afternoon. I would probably be eating through a tube in my stomach, or imparied with a head or spinal cord injury!

EVERONE EVERYTIME NO MATTER THE SITUATION OR YOUR HORSE WEAR YOUR HELMET, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
